At this event, together with brand popularization, production introduction, and trade promotion activities, there are international trade connection conferences, cultural activities, exhibitions, and special artistic performances. These activities aim to popularize Vietnam’s high-quality coffee, contributing to the efforts to turn Buon Ma Thuot into a coffee destination in the world.  

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Nghi said that the 8th edition of the coffee festival demonstrates aspiration and determination of the Party organizations, authorities, and people of ethnic minority groups in Dak Lak province to promote its potentials. The event is also an opportunity for the Central Highlands province to take advantage of the attention and support of the Party, National Assembly, Government for building and developing Buon Ma Thuot into a core city in the Central Highland region, creating a momentum for the development of Dak Lak province.

Artistic performances at the opening ceremony

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang lauded Dak Lak province for its achievements in socio-economic development over the past time. The Deputy Prime Minister also praised the province and central agencies and industries for their efforts and coordination in organizing Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival with practical activities, honoring coffee growers and businesses in Dak Lak and other Central Highlands provinces, and localities across the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities to accelerate the restructuring of agricultural sector and coffee industry. He emphasized the need to effectively carry out plans on replanting coffee trees, towards establishing a large-scale and modern production system associated with preservation, processing, and consumption.

The official also urged the province to build sustainable coffee production value chains associated with cultural and tourism development; promote the application of science and technology to production in order to increase productivity and product quality.

Deputy Prime Minster Tran Luu Quang noted that together with raising the quality of products, brand building must be paid special attention to. The province should build popularization strategy, focus on promotion, and set up sustainable connection between businesses and coffee growers.

He added that lifting the position of Vietnam’s agricultural products requires the participation and effort of the whole political system, businesses, and people. Ministries and sectors, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Bank of Vietnam, and the Vietnam Coffee - Cocoa Association should continue to promote their role as focal points and provide support for localities to develop the agricultural sector in general and the coffee industry in particular.
