Honoring Vietnamese women and image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers
The first exchange took place in July 2025 at the headquarters of the People’s Army Newspaper, featuring the Top 3 of Miss Vietnam 2024: Miss Ha Truc Linh, first runner-up Tran Ngoc Chau Anh, and second runner-up Nguyen Thi Van Nhi. The event was broadcast live on the newspaper’s electronic edition and live-streamed on its digital platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. The warm and cordial atmosphere allowed stories of youth, responsibility, and aspirations for dedication to be shared in a natural and heartfelt manner.

Non-commissioned Lieutenant Tran Ngoc Chau Anh is the first female servicewoman to participate in the Miss Vietnam 2024 competition and win a runner-up title. Born into a family in which her father, elder sister, and brother-in-law are all soldiers, Chau Anh currently works at the Faculty of Music, Military University of Culture and Arts. Immediately after being crowned, she, together with Miss Ha Truc Linh and second runner-up Nguyen Thi Van Nhi, visited and interacted with editors, reporters, and readers at the People’s Army Newspaper. Their stories helped portray the beauty of women in a more comprehensive way, not merely in terms of appearance or titles, but also in courage, discipline, intellect, and the spirit of dedication among women in the military. Chau Anh shared, “Perhaps this is the first time that Miss Vietnam has had a direct connection with the People’s Army Newspaper. It is a connection of tradition, culture, and a spirit of devotion to the people, aimed at spreading beauty and honoring the image of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers.”
During the exchange, all the beauty queens expressed their admiration for Uncle Ho’s Soldiers. Miss Ha Truc Linh emotionally remarked, “The soldiers have sacrificed themselves to place the common good above personal interests.”
“Attire befitting virtue”
In late December 2025, the Top 2 of Miss Cosmo 2025, including Miss Yolina Lindquist (from the United States) and first runner-up Chelsea Fernandez (from the Philippines), visited and held an exchange at the People’s Army Newspaper. The newspaper was also the first destination in the Top 2 Miss Cosmo’s series of visits to Vietnamese press agencies after their coronation.

Miss Yolina Lindquist and first runner-up Chelsea Fernandez expressed their delight at meeting, for the first time, with the editors, reporters, and journalists of the People’s Army Newspaper. They also showed their fondness and offered many compliments on the elegance of journalists in their neat military uniforms. Miss Yolina Lindquist voiced her strong admiration for the contributions of the Vietnam People’s Army, particularly in assisting the population with disaster prevention, search and rescue, and humanitarian relief. As a broadcast journalist in the Philippines, first runner-up Chelsea Fernandez expressed her respect for the achievements attained by the People’s Army Newspaper and its important role within Vietnam’s revolutionary press system.
For those working at the People’s Army Newspaper, such praise is a source of pride, while also a reminder of responsibility to ensure that their “attire befits their virtue.” Behind the soldiers’ uniform lie the qualities of journalists who are “twice soldiers”: ethical standards, integrity, a spirit of service, steadfast political resolve, and absolute loyalty to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people.

At both meetings, Senior Colonel Ngo Anh Thu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People’s Army Newspaper, provided an overview about the newspaper’s history and development to the Top 3 of Miss Vietnam 2024 and the Top 2 of Miss Cosmo 2025. As a newspaper honored twice with the title of Hero, it was named by President Ho Chi Minh himself and published its first issue on October 20, 1950. The People’s Army Newspaper has consistently affirmed its position as one of Vietnam’s leading revolutionary press agencies and a sharp weapon on the Party’s, State’s, and military’s ideological and theoretical front. Currently, it publishes print editions including the People’s Army Newspaper (Daily), People’s Army Newspaper Weekend, and the monthly magazine Events and Witnesses; operates the People’s Army Newspaper Online in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Lao, Khmer, and Russian; and continues to intensify its presence across digital platforms.
