The Arabic edition of General Vo Nguyen Giap’s “Dien Bien Phu”

The book consists of four major sections, namely “Letters from President Ho Chi Minh to the Dien Bien Phu Front,” “Dien Bien Phu,” “Articles on Dien Bien Phu,” along with an appendix containing operational orders, attack directives, battle statistics, information on both enemy and Vietnamese forces, and other relevant documents. Many original historical elements have been preserved by the publisher, demonstrating absolute respect for the content compiled by General Vo Nguyen Giap himself.

The Arabic translation of “Dien Bien Phu” was produced by a team of translators who are lecturers from the Department of Arabic Language and Culture at the University of Languages and International Studies, Hanoi-based National University. This is an important step in introducing Vietnamese history to the international community, particularly to Arabic-speaking nations that maintain multifaceted relations of friendship and cooperation with Vietnam.

The book not only enables Arabic-speaking readers to access one of the most iconic military victories of the 20th century, but also opens opportunities for extensive academic research and exchanges on national liberation warfare, military art, and Vietnam’s peace-loving spirit.

With its domestic reissue, Arabic translation, and broad dissemination, General Vo Nguyen Giap’s “Dien Bien Phu” continues to deepen international understanding of a resilient, creative, and humane Vietnam, while inspiring the spirit of great national unity, self-reliance, and patriotism in the country’s ongoing path of development.
