PANO – The A Sao Temple Traditional Festival with various interesting activities, such as incense offering, rowing, artistic performances, volleyball competition and drum dance, was opened in An Thai commune, Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province, on March 10th.
The 3-day festival aims to honour the great contributions of General Tran Hung Dao, eminent politician, military man and ideologist of the Tran Dynasty, as well as praise his loyalty, humanity and patriotism for the nation, helping arouse people’s national pride.
Pham Tien Thao, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quynh Phu district said that the festival with historic and cultural values will contribute to preserving and honouring historical events, as well as heroism of the Tran Dynasty.
It was said that at the age of 18, Tran Hung Dao, whose birth name is Tran Quoc Tuan, was assigned to defend A Sao which was considered the land of God. He commanded army and people to repel three major Yuan-Mongol invasions. After his death, local people built the temple in commemoration of his contributions.
