Workshop highlights Vietnam-Indonesia relations
PANO - The Embassy of Indonesia in Vietnam and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) jointly held a workshop themed “Reflections on the 65 years of Vietnam-Indonesia relations and the way forward,” on October 26 in Hanoi.
Speaking at the event, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi emphasized that the official establishment of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam in 1955 was an important milestone for friendship between the two countries.
According to him, President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Indonesia and President Sukarno's visit to Vietnam in 1959 laid a solid foundation for the relationship.
In 2013, the Indonesia-Vietnam relations reached a new height when the two countries upgraded their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
"Since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1955, Indonesia and Vietnam are now not only neighbors but also good friends, and good partners. The two countries have actively supported each other in ASEAN and U.N. activities," Ambassador Ibnu Hadi affirmed.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung highly appreciated the good relationship between the two countries over the past 65 years. Since the two countries upgraded their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in 2013, the Vietnam-Indonesia relationship has continued to grow extensively.
