Over the years, Vietnam's economy has maintained an average growth rate of nearly 7% per year, Thong said, adding that from a country with food shortages, it has become a major exporter of rice, coffee, and cashew nuts worldwide. The nation has signed free trade agreements (FTAs) with major markets, including ASEAN, the U.S., the European Union (E.U.), China, Japan, India, the Republic of Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.
Regarding bilateral relations with Indonesia, the ambassador noted that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Indonesia founded by President Sukarno and President Ho Chi Minh, is an invaluable asset of the two nations. The two countries have expanded relations in all areas and have become strategic partners of each other. Next year, the two nations will celebrate 80 years since their independence and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties, an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries.
