At the reception, General Chansamone Chanyalath congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements over the past time, believing that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will reap greater achievements and effectively implement the Resolution adopted by the 13th National Party Congress.

Meanwhile, General Chansamone Chanyalath expressed his delight at the development of the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam and thanked Vietnam for its timely support over the past time. He affirmed that Laos will coordinate with Vietnam to foster and pass on the special solidarity to future generations.

On the occasion, the Lao Defense Minister briefed General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Laos’ situation and the outcomes of cooperation between the two defense ministries as well as the result of the talks between the two defense ministers.

Attentively, he underlined that in any circumstances, the Lao Defense Ministry will closely work with its Vietnamese counterpart to undertake all tasks assigned by the parties, states, and peoples of the two countries. He also pledged to effectively implement cooperation agreements reached by leaders of the two parties and countries, the protocol and cooperation plan between the two defense ministries.

For his part, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated Laos on the outstanding achievements it has gained after more than 35 years of innovation progress and nearly two years of implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).

The Vietnamese Party leader said he believed that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao military and people will continue to gain huge achievements during the national reform, protection and development.

At the reception, Mr. Trong thanked Laos for its military’s support and highlighted the significance of the special solidarity between the two countries.

The two leaders emphasized that Vietnam and Laos always treasure their great friendship and special solidarity over the past time.

Both sides have worked together to effectively conduct various activities to celebrate the “Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022,” leaving deep impressions on the two countries’ people.

Speaking highly of the outcomes of the coordination between the Vietnamese and Lao militaries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh required the two militaries to further promote cooperation to raise defense capabilities, regularly exchange information and experience and jointly protect the Vietnam-Laos shared borderline for peace and stability.

The two militaries should accelerate trade and investment, step up cooperation in human resources training, cyber security, digital transformation, and logistics-technical cooperation. Meanwhile, they should closely coordinate with each other to fight cross-border smuggling and drug crimes.

For the Lao part, General Chansamone Chanyalath affirmed that the Lao Defense Ministry will enhance cooperation with its Vietnamese counterpart to consolidate the special solidarity between the two countries' parties, states, and peoples.
