Vietnam, Laos share law-making experience
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Phung Quoc Hien hosted a reception for head of the Economic, Technology and Environment Committee of the Lao National Assembly Bounpone Sisoulath in Hanoi on January 9.
Hien highlighted Vietnam’s consistent policies of treasuring and giving top priority to the preservation and promotion of the special ties with Laos, affirming that Vietnam always strongly supports Laos’ national reform, defense and construction.
He also lauded the fruitful cooperation between the Economic, Technology and Environment Committee of the Lao NA and the Economic Committee of the Vietnam NA, stressing that the Vietnamese legislature will work closely with the Lao side to effectively implement their cooperation agreement.
Hien told the guest that Vietnam is preparing to host the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum from January 17-21 in Hanoi, and hoped the Lao top legislator and high-ranking delegation will attend the event as significant support for Vietnam.
For his part, Bounpone Sisoulath, who is on a visit to Vietnam from January 8-13, said that in 2018, the Lao NA will focus on revising the Land Law and that his visit aims to learn from Vietnam’s experience in land management and use.
He also pledged that the Economic, Technology and Environment Committee and the Economic Committee of the Vietnam NA will continue sharing experience in legislation.
Earlier on January 8, head of the NA Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh held talks with the Lao official, during which the two sides shared experience in building the 2013 Land Law of Vietnam as well as the new points of the law.
