Nearly 300 contestants from 10 countries will compete in 25 categories during this big annual contest themed “Skills-our real value” from Oct 19th to 29th to boost skills among ASEAN. Addressing the ceremony, NA Deputy Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stressed that enhancing vocational training to raise the employment possibility is the goal affirmed in an ASEAN leaders’ statement. At present, ASEAN member countries have been facing big challenges in qualified human resources to meet economic recovery and development. Thus, it is important to improve professionalism, contributing to high possibility of getting a job and increased labour productivity.

According to Ms. Ngan, with great efforts and high determination, ASEAN countries have overcome many challenges to accomplish 80 percent of the targets on community building, in which ASEAN labour cooperation has made an importance contribution.
The 10th ASEAN skills contest hosted by Vietnam is a good chance to strengthen the cooperation to develop skilled human resources in the region. It is also a playground for young labourers to demonstrate their talents and skills.
