PANO – The Youth Union’s Central Committee held a camp-fire, themed “Youths’ Flame is Brightening Forever” and honored outstanding youth union secretaries at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism on March 19th and 20th. In the framework of the camp-fire, various activities were held, including a food fair, exchanges with ASEAN’s young representatives in Hanoi, and the Earth Hour 2016 campaign.

* The same day, the Ministry of Education and Training, in association with the Thanh Nien newspaper and over 20 colleges and universities nationwide, held the “Exam Season Consultancy 2016” campaign at Phan Dinh Dung high school, Song Cau commune, Phu Yen province, with the participation of over 1,000 local high school students.

* Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee organized a ground-breaking ceremony to build monuments for young volunteers who had helped build the Hanh Phuc (Happiness) Road. The 16-meter high monument of 5 young volunteers, representing the 5 ethnic minority groups who joined the road construction at a cost of nearly VND 50 billion, were sculpted in greenstone.

* Meanwhile the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Youth Union and the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sport opened a sport event for youths in 2016, at Hanoi’s Quan Ngua Sports Complex yesterday. The event included a parade and final rounds for football, table tennis, badminton, tug-of war and track and field. The organizers also awarded medals for individuals and Tay Ho District Team.

* Thai Nguyen city’s Youth Union Committee, Military Zone 1’s Youth Committee and Thai Nguyen province police’s Youth Union Committee co-held the festival day, “Proud to be Youths in Ho Chi Minh’s Era”, with the participation of over 1000 local youths. The program includes numerous activities such as aerobic performances, martial arts, flag dance, folk games, and a painting exhibition.

* On March 19th, at the martyr memorial site in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province, a program themed “Young Volunteers – One of the Most Beautiful Times” took place and was broadcast live on TV to mark the 40th founding anniversary of Ho Chi Minh’s young volunteer force. The program was co-held by Ho Chi Minh City’s young volunteers and Ho Chi Minh City Television. Before the program started, participants offered incense to commemorate martyrs at the memorial site.

* The Nam Dinh provincial Border Guard’s Youth Union Committee and local enterprises’ Youth Union Committees co-organized a program “Journey to National Seas and Islands” on March 19th. They provided free health check-ups and medical consultancy to needy households in Giao Hai commune, Giao Thuy district, and also started the construction of a gratitude house for Ms. Dang Thi Mau’s family, at a cost of VND 85 million.
