Military unit holds conference on protecting national sea and islands

At the conference, participants were informed about five topics, including the results of military and defense task implementation in 2022 and orientations and missions for 2023, the outcomes of international cooperation and defense external affairs of the Vietnam Coast Guard in recent years and the first "Vietnam Coast Guard and friends" exchange program in 2022, the outcomes of activities related to the fund for Vietnam's sea and islands in 2022 and the fund's orientations for 2023.

In his opening speech, Major General Do Thanh Phong emphasized that the task of protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands always poses numerous new requirements to the armed forces, and this conference provided important and practical contents.

Therefore, the Party committees and chains-of-command of agencies and units need to continue to thoroughly grasp and implement the Party's resolutions and at the same time, closely coordinate with relevant forces and localities to promote information dissemination on the national sea and island protection duties, actively deploy measures to mobilize people, all organizations and individuals to contribute to the fund for Vietnam's sea and islands and successfully fulfill the targets of socio-economic development, he added.
