A representative of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command symbolically presents bikes to students from Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Trai, and Nguyen Hue secondary schools.

The contest was jointly held by the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and Quang Tri provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Board and Department of Education and Training.

Contestants competed in four events, namely “Going out to sea,” “Crossing the waves,” “Arriving at the wharf,” and “Planting a sovereignty marker” with questions focusing on knowledge of national sea and islands, the Law of the Sea in 2012, the Vietnam Coast Guard Law in 2018, the traditions of the heroic Vietnam coast guard force and Quang Tri province, harmful effects of drugs, school violence, and how to prevent and control drugs at schools.

The contest was successful thanks to enthusiastic support of schools’ teachers, students, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command’s troops, and students’ parents.

The organizer awards students with high scores at the contest “I love national sea and islands.”

On the occasion, the command granted 30 scholarships, each worth VND 1 million, and 20 bikes to local disadvantaged students with good academic records.

Earlier, the command launched a painting competition under the theme “National sea, islands, and coast guards.” After three days of launch, the organizer received nearly 200 paintings from students of the three aforementioned schools. Based on points given by the jury, the organizer presented 30 awards to best individuals of the painting competition. They also awarded four other individuals at the contest “I love national sea and islands.”
