Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Board of the Fund, chaired the event.
Delivering his report, Major General Ngo Thanh Hai, Head of the Department of Mass Mobilization under the VPA’s General Department of Politics and Deputy Head of the Steering Board’s Permanent Organ, briefed the participants on the task performance of the organ in the past time.
During its operations, the organ and other relevant agencies of the Steering Board, together with the Office of the Defense Ministry, have sent conclusions of the Head of the Steering Board in the previous conference to related units. In addition, the organ also briefed the Steering Board on the outcomes of the fund’s activities as well as the management and use of the fund in 2018 and in the first six months of 2019.
The organ is now building plans for the rest of the year and in 2020 while coordinating with relevant agencies to complete draft regulations on management and use of the fund, including contents related to the fund’s management, donation registration forms, and more.
According to reports delivered at the conference, the participants pointed out several difficulties and shortcomings during running the fund, especially limitations in popularizing the fund. Meanwhile, they also suggested approaches to improve the efficiency in using and operating the fund.
Concluding the event, General Phuong acknowledged and hailed relevant agencies’ achievements over the past time. He also asked the organ of the Steering Board of the Fund to soon complete and issue working regulations and related documents, and boost the progress of building the fund’s logo, slogan, and website in order to soon organize a press conference to introduce the fund to the public.
In addition, the organ should continue working with relevant units and agencies to complete all working plans of the fund and submit them to the leadership of the VPA’s General Department of Politics and the Defense Ministry for approval.
