The winding hems of terrace rice fields, embracing the waters with the reflection of the sky and clouds, create the miraculous beauty of Y Ty in summer. Below are some photos of the breathtaking scenery.

Y Ty is a mountainous commune in Bat Xat district, about 70km from Lao Cai city. Summer brings along rains to provide people with water for a new crop.
2,000m above sea level, the terrace fields in Y Ty stretch through all the hill and mountain sides. In the photo, the terrace fields in Khu Chu Lin make one of the unique features of the commune.
When water comes, locals start building banks for the fields to hold water  for a new crop. The water fields coincidently become playgrounds for children when their parents are busy working in the fields.
The rain starts to come down on Y Ty from May and ends in June. However, people plant rice different time, creating colourful scenery.
The rainy season (May to June) and harvest seasons (August to October) are the most beautiful time of year in Y Ty plateau.
Discovering Y Ty, people would see  earthen houses, which also make a unique feature of this mountainous commune. Houses with earthen walls are cool in summer and warm in winter.
Y Ty is home to a number of minority ethnic groups including the Ha Nhi, H’mong, Dao, Giay groups, making a diversified cultural picture of the commune.
Suggested stopovers for tourists include Phan Can Su, Hong Ngai, Lao Chai, and Sim San villages.
