PANO - The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Korean Tourism Office signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on tourism development cooperation on October 20 in Hanoi.

The agreement aims to promote cultural exchange and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in 2017 when the two countries celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-RoK diplomatic ties, serving as a foundation for long-term cooperation between the two organizations in the future.

Under the MoU, the two sides will actively support each other in implementing campaigns to attract more visitors of either country, set up expert groups and organize personnel training courses as well as assist each other in organizing events. 

The relationship between Vietnam and RoK continuously sees positive developments, which leads of the two countries’ tourism industry to constant year-on–year growth. Last year alone, the RoK welcomed more than 160,000 Vietnamese visitors while 1.1 millions of Korean tourists visited Vietnam.

On this occasion, the Korean Tourism Office also signed cooperation agreements with two representatives of the Vietnamese tourism industry: the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and the Vietnam Travel and Marketing Transport Joint-stock Company (Vietravel).
