Preparations underway for biometrics, VNeID application at six airports
The Ministry of Construction has outlined a roadmap for implementing biometric technology and the VNeID digital identity platform at the international airports of Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City and Noi Bai in Hanoi.
At Tan Son Nhat, the biometric system is set for deployment between April and June, with full biometric integration at Terminal 3 as soon as this new facility becomes operational. Meanwhile, at Noi Bai, it is expected to be carried out between March and September.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has also initiated investment procedures and equipment installation for biometric verification technology at Phu Bai, Cat Bi, Dien Bien, and Long Thanh airports.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the full biometric verification process will require passengers to possess a chip-based ID card, provide a passenger name record (PNR) booking code, and consent to personal data sharing and facial recognition.
The verification process will involve three key checkpoints. They are check-in counters equipped with chip-based ID card readers and facial recognition devices, a security checkpoint featuring the automated boarding area access gate (ABAAG) system, and a boarding gate with an automated self-boarding gate system integrated with biometric authentication.
The biometric identification process must strictly comply with the legal regulations on personal data protection, the authority said.
