The forum, themed “Developing tourism in the central and Central Highlands region as an international brand,” was part of the sixth ongoing Quang Nam Heritage Festival.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Bien acknowledged the positive contributions of the region's tourism to the national tourism sector. The region is important to the national tourism development strategy to 2020, with a vision towards 2030.

In addition to the results achieved, the tourism sector in the central and Central Highlands region has not developed correspondingly to their potential and not built up a tourism brand internationally, he added.

“It is necessary for the central and Central Highlands region to enhance connectivity, increase competitiveness, and build tourism brand internationally for sustainable tourism development,” the official noted.

At the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that localities should make use of their natural and cultural advantages to create unique products and bolster regional connection to attract more visitors.

To develop tourism, local authorities should look for financial resources from private businesses. And human resource training is also one of the important factors for tourism development, becoming a key economic sector in the country’s development, he added.
