Founded over two centuries ago, the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) is a world-renowned institution dedicated to advancing surgical excellence, education, and patient care. The Fellowship of the College is recognized internationally as the highest mark of professional achievement for surgeons. The Honorary FRCS is reserved for individuals whose contributions to surgery and medicine have had outstanding and far-reaching impact.

Katrin Kandel, voluntary CEO of Facing The World, the U.K. charity which helps connects Vietnamese hospitals and doctors with RCS, said this honor acknowledges the two doctors’ exceptional leadership, surgical skill, and commitment to improving craniofacial and reconstructive care in Vietnam as well as the growing collaboration between Vietnamese and British medical institutions.

This recognition marks an important milestone in strengthening ties between Vietnam and the U.K. in the pursuit of surgical excellence and humanitarian care, she added.

Katrin also extended special thanks to RCS President Tim Mitchell for his support and encouragement to FTW, whose ongoing partnership with Vietnamese hospitals has been instrumental in advancing surgical training and international cooperation.

Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Linh, told Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the U.K. that it was an honor to receive FRCS certificate, the highest recognition of surgeons. She said the FRCS award created opportunities for further studies and skill improvement as well as more contributions to patients and the craniofacial and plastic surgery.

She stressed the fact that Vietnamese doctors have been awarded with FRCS certificate proves Vietnam’s surgical expertise has met international standards, contributing to improving the quality of treatment at home, expanding academic cooperation with world leading medical institutions and inspiring younger doctor to pursue higher standards.

Dr Linh extended thanks to lecturers, colleagues and the Council at RCS and to FTW for supporting Vietnamese doctors in training and academic exchanges, connecting Vietnam with world leading medical institutions and providing medical equipment to Vietnam.

FTW is a U.K.-registered medical charitable foundation set up in 2002 to treat children from developing countries with craniofacial defects, FTW started operations in Vietnam in 2007.

To date, it has helped provide surgeries for thousands children with craniofacial defects across Vietnam and sent over 100 Vietnamese doctors to world class medical institutions in the U.K., Canada, the U.S. and Australia for training. The foundation has also donated in excess of 2.5 million pounds worth of telemedicine technology and surgical equipment to its partner hospitals in Vietnam.
