Vietnamese, Malaysian youths tighten relations
PANO – The 25th Green Summer volunteer campaign 2018 was successfully wrapped up on August 11 at the headquarters of Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Union.
This was the seventh consecutive year that Malaysian students has taken part in volunteer activities in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). So far, 53 students from Malaysian universities joined the campaign.

This year, the Malaysian students, together with those from Vietnamese universities, experienced four weeks in District 12 and the districts of Cu Chi, Binh Chanh and Nha Be. During the campaign, the volunteer students helped build concrete roads, held free English classes for local children, embellished schools, organized an ASEAN festive day to disseminate information about the ASEAN Community to locals, created playgrounds for kids and more.
Addressing the event, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC’s Youth Union Ngo Minh Hai believed that the month-long campaign in Vietnam would leave deep impression on the Malaysian students, and hoped there would be more joint activities to tighten the bilateral solidarity and relationship between the two countries.
For his part, Chairwoman of the Student Volunteers Foundation under the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education Dato Zuraidah Atan thanked the HCMC’s Youth Union for supporting Malaysian students to roll out volunteer activities over the past seven years, contributing to boosting Vietnam-Malaysia cooperation and enhancing the unity among ASEAN state members.
