VAVA, CSIP coordinate to support AO/dioxin victims
PANO – The Vietnam Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims (VAVA) and the Center for Social Initiatives Promotion (CSIP) inked a cooperation agreement on March 15 in Hanoi to improve care for AO/dioxin victims.
It was an activity of the project entitled “Improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in provinces exposed to Agent Orange/Dioxin in Vietnam” funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Under the deal, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to enhance VAVA’s capability, mobilize and manage resources, give advice to higher levels, improve policies related to AO/dioxin victims while carrying out more activities and programs to support AO/dioxin victims in eight provinces.
Addressing the signing ceremony, VAVA President Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh affirmed that improving the quality of life for AO/dioxin victims has been a great concern of the Party and State, becoming one of the country’s top priorities.

On the occasion, the VAVA President expressed his hope that USAID would continue accompanying the Vietnamese government to help AO/dioxin victims have a better life.
For her part, Ann Marie Yastishock, Mission Director for USAID/Vietnam, said that over the past years, the U.S. government has coordinated with the Vietnamese government to settle severe consequences of war-left unexploded ordnance and toxic chemicals in Vietnam.

Also, she underlined that USAID would continue supporting AO/dioxin victims in Vietnam in the time to come.
