According to the latest traffic plan for the APEC meetings issued by the municipal People’s Committee on October 21, tipper lorries will be banned from all routes in the city from November 3-12. The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is scheduled on November 6-11 in the city. 

However, they will be allowed to use certain roads on the outskirts of the city, including routes linking Hai Van tunnel to Tuy Loan, some sections of the National Highway 14B, National Highway 1 and the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway.

Also under the plan, trucks, lorries with trailers, coaches with over 16 seats, sanitary vehicles, garbage trucks and trucks transporting waste will be banned from 5am to 11pm between November 5 and 12 on a number of roads, including Hoang Sa, Vo Nguyen Giap, Truong Sa and Vo Van Kiet, as well as Nguyen Van Thoai, Ho Xuan Huong, Nguyen Duc Thuan and Minh Mang, in addition to An Nong and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia. 

The same ban will also be implemented on Bach Dang, Tran Phu, 2 thang 9 (September 2 - National Day of Vietnam) and Cach mạng Thang 8 (August Revolution), as well as Ham Nghi, Le Dinh Ly, Nguyen Tri Phuong and Nguyen Huu Tho, in addition to Trung Nu Vuong, Nguyen Van Linh, Duy Tan and Tran Thi Ly, and some bridges, including Rong, Tran Thi Ly and Tien Son. 

On November 10 and 11, the ban will also be applied to other roads, including Le Van Hien, Ngu Hanh Son, Ngo Quyen and Yet Kieu. It will also be implemented for coaches with a height of over 3.5m. 

From November 5 to 12, all vehicles will be banned from parking at Hoang Sa, Vo Nguyen Giap, Truong Sa and Vo Van Kiet, as well as Nguyen Van Thoai, Bach Dang, Tran Phu, 2 thang 9 and Cach mang thang 8, in addition to Nguyen Van Linh, Duy Tan and Tran Thi Ly. 

To ensure safety, Da Nang authorities have decided to temporarily suspend the Rong (Dragon) bridge over the Han River from breathing fire and spraying water on November 4, 5, 11 and 12. 

Tourism vessels will be temporarily suspended on the Han river on November 9, 10 and 11. 

Director of the municipal Department of Transport Le Van Trung, said apart from working with relevant agencies to build the traffic plan for APEC, the department has also proposed to local authorities to upgrade infrastructure in the city to better serve the APEC meetings. 

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week is expected to bring together leaders and around 10,000 delegates from 21 APEC member economies.
