Accordingly, the foundation pledged to provide a US$ 50,000 aid to save elephants in the Central Highlands province between 2016 and 2017.
This is the first time Dak Lak has inked a deal with an international organization to preserve local wild animals.
Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development along with the Vietnam CITES Management Authority, and the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee built small-scale projects on elephant preservation in the locality.
According to the AAF, 60 percent of the aid package will be used to provide equipment and medical treatment for local elephants, while US$ 12,000 will be spent on training veterinarians.
