PM approves changes of general plan for southern Vung Tau city
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently approved changes to a general plan for Vung Tau city in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau towards 2035.
The plan will be implemented in the city’s administrative zone, spanning about 15,043 ha.
Vung Tau city is projected to have a population of about 520,000 people in 2025 and about 650,000 in 2035. It is divided into seven areas, with two major centres of Go Gang and Long Son.
Notably, Long Son island will be developed as the nation’s centre for the oil and gas industry, along with supporting and other industries.

New urban areas, as well as eco-friendly urban areas with small-scale populations will also be built to serve workers in the oil and gas industry. In addition, existing urban areas and salt marsh landscapes will be improved.
The plan will be carried out over an area of around 4,100 ha, with land put aside for the construction of urban areas accounting for 2,670 ha.
Various parks will be built in the city and linked with natural rivers and canals, creating urban green space networks.
