Speaking at the event, Chairman of Can Tho city’s People’s Committee Tran Viet Cuong informed that more than 20,000 Khmer people are currently living in Can Tho city, mainly in the districts of O Mon, Thoi Lai, and Co Do.
From March 21 to April 14, hundreds of officers and soldiers from the city’s armed forces have carried out various practical activities to support the Khmer people in the locality, including building 12 new great solidarity houses, repairing five gratitude houses, installing street lighting systems along roads, presenting 500 gifts to policy and needy families, granting 100 scholarships to disadvantaged students in O Mon, Co Do, and Thoi Lai districts.
Additionally, the command visited and extended New Year wishes to dignities of Khmer pagodas, held gatherings for Khmer troops, and organized many other activities.
The event aimed to consolidate the civilian-military solidarity in the cause of national construction and defense and help the Khmer people have a happy Chol Chnam Thmay festival.

At the event, the Chairman hoped that Khmer Theravada Buddhist dignitaries and followers, and the Khmer ethnic group in Can Tho city would uphold the tradition of solidarity, overcome difficulties, proactively participate in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to building a richer, more beautiful and civilized city.
