The World Environment Day, annually held by the United Nations on June 5, is an important global environmental event that has been actively responded to by Vietnamese people over the years and has become a practical activity to raise public awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development. This year the event’s theme is "Living in harmony with nature."
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Sea and Island Week 2017, themed “For our future” last from June 1 to 8 in an attempt to raise public awareness of the importance of the national seas and islands, the significance of oceans to humankind, and the imperative for sea protection.
After the ceremony, thousands of Youth Union members and delegates from Quang Binh province paraded on Dong Hoi streets to call for environmental protection and cleaned the environment of Bao Ninh Beach and the areas along the two banks of the Nhat Le River.
* The same day, the Da Nang municipal authorities also held a meeting in response to the World Environment Day at the Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) Site. It also marked the opening of the Action Month for the Environment, which has drawn the participation of 1,500 officials and locals in Da Nang.
These events are to emphasize the community’s role and responsibility in managing, protecting and sustainably developing natural resources, sea and island environment, and biodiversity, to name but a few.
