The program was sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) as part of the project entitled "Supporting the AJC on improving the policy enforcement capacity of the Vietnamese Government".

The project aimed to strengthen education, research capabilities of the academy's staff on policy communication, as well as the grounds for future projects.

During the two-week program, Vietnamese students were trained by the KU's professors and participated in field trips to several major media agencies of the Republic of Korea (RoK).

At the KU, one of the three best universities in Korea, the Vietnamese delegation attended interesting lectures on the Hallyu wave, communication changes in the mobile age, the Korean media and press models, as well as policy promotion and risk management. The lectures helped the students update information about the context, trends and solutions of the Korean media agencies.

In addition, the delegation also took part in activities of SBS, KBS, YTN and MBC Television stations.

According to Assoc. Prof. Luu Van An, Deputy Director of the AJC and the delegation’s head, this specific and practical program met the demands of all members.

One of the program’s core targets was to help the trainees build action plans to solve practical issues related to policy communication in Vietnam. These plans must be applicable to a specific Vietnamese context and based on their newly- acquired knowledge.

This was the second refresher course of the project. The next course will be organized in October for leaders of press agencies in Vietnam.
