Ho Chi Minh City unveils modern press center
PANO - A ceremony to unveil a press center, the first of its kind nationwide was held in Ho Chi Minh City on May 5.
The center, located at 255 Tran Hung Dao, District 1, is the place for city leaders to officially give the press and media information to orient the public opinion, as well as to collect and handle information from news outlets, hold both regular and irregular news briefings, work with domestic and foreign news agencies in journalism and communications, and conduct training courses on communications.

Covering a total area of 1,600 sq.m, the center has two rooms for news conferences, one meeting room for VIP guests, a room for meetings between local leaders and reporters, and a room with sufficient information and communications infrastructure for reporters to work.
Especially, the press center will serve as an ideal working place for reporters to work when the city hosts important events at both national and international levels.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong asked the center management board to make this center as a bridge connecting city leaders and the press and media.
The leader of Ho Chi Minh City also pledged to stand side by side with news agencies and create the best conditions for reporters to access information accurately and rapidly in line with the laws.
At the inaugural ceremony, deputy head of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Department of Information and Communications Tu Luong was appointed as the center’s Director.
