Ia Grai district has two border communes, Ia O and Ia Chia, bordering Oyadao and Dun Mia districts of Cambodia’s Ratanakiri province. In spite of facing difficulties, relevant agencies, especially border guard units, have actively followed situational developments and made recommendations for the district’s leadership to effectively carry out the directive.
Over the past five years, local leaders, border guard forces and agencies have jointly promoted information dissemination to raise the awareness of cadres, troops and ethnic minority people to protect border areas and border markers. As a result, more than 4,150 local people in the two communes committed to safeguard national sovereignty and security in the current period.
The district has so far established 22 teams to ensure security in villages, along the borderline, and border markers in the two communes.
On the occasion, the People’s Committee of Ia Grai district presented certificates of merit to 14 groups and 15 individuals with great contributions to the movement of protecting national sovereignty and security along border area in the new context.
