On October 20, fishing vessel BD 30927-TS, captained by Mai Phu from Duc Pho 1 village, Cat Minh commune, Phu Cat district (Binh Dinh province), departed from Loc An Border Guard Station in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province to fish for squid.
At 5:25 p.m. on November 8, when the vessel was about 101 nautical miles Southeast of Binh Chau Port in Binh Chau commune, Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, strong waves and high winds caused severe flooding on board, leading to the boat’s sinking.
By 6 p.m., the six crew-members of fishing vessel BD 30927-TS were successfully rescued by another fishing vessel, BD 31029-TS, captained by Mai Kim Tien, a resident of the same locality. They were safely brought to Binh Chau Port, and all crew-members are currently in stable health.
