Last year, the armed forces in Quang Nam province actively coordinated with local authorities and people to respond to natural disasters. Notably, the provincial Military Command signed cooperation agreements with other local forces to deploy forces for the search and rescue missions; as well as to provide vehicles and equipment such as canoes, mobile canvas houses, life buoys and life jackets for the localities to be ready for search and rescue missions in any circumstances.
The provincial Border Guard Command deployed its forces and vehicles to promptly deal with urgent situations. It also cooperated with other relevant units such as Naval Region 3 Command, Coast Guard Region 2 Command and Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 2 in carrying out the search and rescue missions.
Accordingly, the unit mobilized two ships, four canoes, and 101 troops to save six distressed trawlers and 53 fishermen.
As the weather conditions are sometimes unpredictable, the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Quang Nam province has set major targets for disaster prevention and control in 2019.
