The event, in response to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (November 21), drew the attendance of Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.

In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister extended his deepest condolences to the families of traffic accident victims in Vietnam, and urged everyone to join hands in helping the victims and their families ease the pain caused by traffic accidents.

According to the latest report by the World Health Organization, every year, road accidents kill about 1.3 million people and injure 50 million others around the world.

Annually, traffic accidents in Vietnam result in approximately 7,000 deaths and more than 11,000 people suffering from injuries for their whole life. In the first 11 months of this year, the number of traffic-related deaths surpassed 5,000.
