The Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association held its first national congress in Hanoi on June 28 to chart its development course for the 2009-2012 term.
Addressing the event, State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan praised generations of young Vietnamese physicians for their significant contributions to national construction and development.
She stressed that over recent years, young Vietnamese physicians have performed their vanguard role in the process of national industrialisation and modernisation, showing their burning desire to conduct scientific research and contribute to the cause of protecting people’s health.
The coming into being of the association will create favourable conditions for young Vietnamese physicians inside and outside the country to work toward protecting people’s health, said Ms Doan.
She asked the association to effectively implement the Political Bureau’s resolution No46 on ‘protecting, caring for and improving people’s health’. She also asked Party organisations, administrations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other mass organisations to support and assist the association.
The congress elected 90 delegates to the association’s central committee and 25 delegates to the executive board. Tang Chi Thuong, director of Children No1 Hospital in HCM City was elected president of the association.
