Work starts on expanded Thac Mo hydropower plant

PANO - The ground-breaking ceremony of the Expanded Thac Mo Hydropower Plant took place on July 5th in Duc Hanh commune, Bu Gia Map district which is contiguous to Phuoc Long town, Binh Phuoc province in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
This plant, locating near Thac Mo Plant on Be River in Thac Mo ward, Phuoc Long town, will has a capacity of 75MW, increasing the power capacity of Thac Mo Plant from 150MW to 225MW to provide more power for southern provinces and ease the current energy shortage, contributing to national socio-economic development and defence-security consolidation.
The expanded Thac Mo Hydropower Plant project is carried out at a cost of VND 1,588 billion, of which 85 per cent is from Japan’s ODA and the rest from the Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
Major General Do Giang Nam, Commander of Army Corps 12 and Director General of Truong Son Construction Corporation which is among the project-holders, said that though the project has many complicated work with hi-tech requirements, they will do their utmost to ensure the process and quality of the structure.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai highly appreciated efforts of project-holders and laid stress on the importance of this plant in Binh Phuoc province and the region.
This plant is scheduled to be operational in three years.
