The Vietnamese winners of the recently-held 2015 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad were honoured with certificates of merit by the Minister of Education and Training in Hanoi on May 26th.
Gold medalists Nguyen Tien Trung Kien, Nguyen Viet Dung and Phan Duc Nhat Minh from the University of Natural Sciences’ gifted high school received VND 10 million (USD 470) each. They all scored the highest mark of 300 out of 300.

Their school mates Do Ngoc Khanh and Pham Van Hanh, who won silver medals, were granted VND 7 million (USD 334) each.
Bronze medalist Vu Phuc Hoang from the Hanoi Pedagogy College’s gifted high school, obtained a reward worth VND 3 million (USD 142).
The online five-hour competition was hosted by Indonesia, attracting contestants from 27 countries and territories such as China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Singapore and Thailand.
Vietnam tied with the RoK to rank third in the final tally, which composed of 18 golds, 28 silvers and 36 bronzes. It was the first time the country had competed for the award.
The winners will represent Vietnam at the upcoming International Informatics Olympiad.
