PANO - Various activities will be held in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen province on April 20th and 21st to mark the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) (April 21st, 1950). The information about the event was released at a press conference on April 15th in Hanoi.

Among them, a meeting to recall the history of the Vietnamese revolutionary journalism during the national resistance wars and the association's National Patriotic Emulation Congress will take place at the Hanoi Opera House on April 20th. Later, delegates will take part in a cultural exchange themed “Returning to the root” and visit the place where the association was founded on the same day in Thai Nguyen province.

The press conference

The Association of Vietnam Press Writers, the VJA's predecessor, was established on April 21st, 1950 and at present it has more than 22,000 members nationwide. Its 10th Congress scheduled in this August will map out development directions for the period of 2015-2020.

In the framework of the press conference, the organizing panel launched a writing competition, entitled "Journalists: Virtue, Stance, and Responsibility" and a photo contest, entitled "Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas" for journalism photos published on the Journalist magazine.
