Vice National Assembly Chairman Uong Chu Luu received a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Czech Chamber of Deputies led by Chairman David Vodrazka, in Hanoi on Nov. 21.
The Vice NA Chairman said he believes that the Czech delegation’s visit will contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries and the two legislative bodies.
He voiced his thanks to the Czech Republic for its regular supply of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam, focusing on industry, transport and vocational training.
He also thanked the Czech side for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and studying in the country, saying he hopes for continued assistance from Czech Republic and that the country will support Vietnam efforts to enhance relations with the European Union.
Luu expressed his wish that the two sides will continue strengthening cooperation in investment, trade and education. He suggested the two legislative bodies increase exchange of high-level delegations and experience in legislative activities.
For his part, David Vodrazka affirmed that the Czech Republic is ready to assist Vietnam in the areas of science, technology, infrastructure development and environmental treatment. He said he wishes the two countries would bolster cooperation in many areas.
The Czech Republic will continue granting scholarships to Vietnamese students to study in the country, he said.
The same day, the Czech delegation met with a Vietnamese NA delegation led by Chairman of the NA Committee on Foreign Relations Tran Van Hang.
During the meeting, the two sides informed each other about the operations of each country’s legislative body and foreign affairs commission.
Hang expressed hope that Vietnam will receive more support from the Czech side at bilateral and multilateral forums.
Both host and guest agreed to increase exchange of experience between the two commissions and the two legislative bodies.
