PANO - The Ho Chi Minh City's Party Committee unveiled Uncle Ho Statue on May 17th in celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19th 1890), in the presence of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Politburo Member and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Le Hong Anh, and many high-ranking officials.

The 4.5m-high copper statue is placed on a 2.7m-high monolith pedestal in front of the building of the city's People's Committee and People's Council.
At the event, delegates laid a wreath to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and recalled his great contributions to the national liberation cause.

Addressing the ceremony, General Secretary Trong praised the city's authorties and people for their efforts in building the statue in time to mark Uncle Ho's birthday and welcome national reunification day. Besides, he hoped that they would continue bringing into play their traditions to take the leading position in the renewal process, develop an increasingly modern, civilized and dynamic city, contributing to maintaining their position of the biggest economic hub of the Southern region, and becoming an economic, financial, commercial, scientific and technological centre of the nation as well as the Southeast Asia region.

Earlier the same day, an exhibition entitled "Uncle Ho with the South, the South with Uncle Ho" was opened at the building of the city's People's Committee.
