In his speech, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Editor-in-Chief, reviewed the proud 75-year history of the newspaper. Founded in 1950 through the merger of the two newspapers namely Ve Quoc quan and Quan du kich, the newspaper was honorably named the People’s Army Newspaper by President Ho Chi Minh, symbolizing its mission as the voice of the armed forces and people of Vietnam.
Gen. Bo emphasized that over the past 75 years, generations of cadres and journalists of the newspaper have demonstrated loyalty, devoted themselves wholeheartedly, significantly contributing to strengthening the political and spiritual foundation of the armed forces and people in both wartime and peacetime. The essence of the soldier-newspaper, ready to fight and make sacrifices for the nation and the people, has always lived on in every journalist’s pen, reflecting an unyielding spirit and the courage to pursue the truth to its very end.

An overview of the ceremony |
With its achievements, the newspaper has been honored with many noble awards, including the Ho Chi Minh Order, the Gold Star Order, and the titles of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces and Labor Hero. Attentively, nine journalists of the newspaper sacrificed their lives on the battlefield, and two individuals honored as heroes of the People’s Armed Forces. Many writers, artists, and intellectuals who have worked for the newspaper have been awarded the State Prize and the Ho Chi Minh Prize.

Given global, regional and domestic situation changes in the time ahead, he requested the newspaper to uphold its firm political stance, the Party’s ideological direction, and continue to play a pioneering role in the ideological and information front, contributing to the military’s fulfilment of the task of Fatherland construction and defense.
Gen. To asked the newspaper to implement effectively the project of building a leading multimedia news agency by 2030, with a vision toward 2045. In addition, it should foster a contingent of staff being professionally competent, technologically proficient, and strictly observant of laws and discipline; politically sensitive and clear-sighted in assessing situations; courageous in confronting negative phenomena; and capable of writing accurately, insightfully, and promptly, always fulfilling every assignment, no matter how difficult or challenging it is.

To urged the newspaper to swiftly adapt, take the lead in renewing its mindset, master modern technology, and make breakthroughs in journalism and information delivery. It should expand its presence on official social media platforms to enhance its influence and appeal, meeting the requirements of communications in the digital era. At the same time, it must firmly defend the information front amidst the rise of cross-border media platforms, while consistently ensuring the material and spiritual life of its personnel, providing them with the best working conditions to fulfill their mission.
