The event was held on the occasion of the 77th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 – 2021), the 32nd anniversary of the Whole People's Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 – 2021), and the 110th birth anniversary of General Vo Nguyen Giap (August 25, 1911 – 2021).

The event was also attended by representatives of the central and local ministries and sectors.

General Vo Nguyen Giap was an excellent and close disciple of President Ho Chi Minh, a loyal revolutionary, the first full general of the Vietnam People's Army, who devoted his whole life to the Party and the people.

At the ceremony, PM Chinh and delegates expressed their deep gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap for his great contribution. The delegates promised to build solidarity and unity among the whole-Party, the whole-people and the whole-military, contributing to firmly safeguarding the Fatherland, developing Vietnam into a prosperous country following the orientations selected by the Party, Uncle Ho, the previous generations of revolutionary forces, and the late general.

Earlier, a delegation of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense offered incense at the Memorial House dedicated to General Vo Nguyen Giap in Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province.

The same day, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, a delegation of the Department of Policies under the General Department of Political Affairs and the Quang Binh provincial Military Command offered incense at Ba Doc War Cemetery in Ly Trach commune, Bo Trach district.
