In excerpts from the article, General Secretary Lam underlined that national reconciliation remains a “long-term strategic choice” and a “pillar of the great national unity bloc.” He emphasized that reconciliation does not mean forgetting the past or erasing differences, but rather embracing diverse perspectives with tolerance and respect, toward the larger goal of building a peaceful, unified, strong, civilized, and prosperous Vietnam.

Reflecting on moving meetings with overseas Vietnamese, some of whom have differing political views but share a common love for their homeland, the Party leader also spoke of emotional meetings between veterans from opposing sides of the war, now shaking hands in a spirit of reconciliation.

An article of Prensa Latina's special series marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).

Prensa Latina noted that five decades after its historic reunification, Vietnam continues to embody the strength of national solidarity and the yearning for peace. It described Party General Lam’s message – “Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one” – not merely as a slogan but as a living truth, a heartfelt command that continues to guide the nation’s path of growth and integration with the world.

The news agency also devoted extensive coverage to preparations for a major military parade in Ho Chi Minh City – where, half a century ago, the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign brought an end to the long struggle for national independence and reunification.

According to reports from Prensa Latina’s correspondent in Hanoi, rehearsals for the grand event, set for April 30, were completed following a full dress rehearsal on April 27. Approximately 13,000 participants are expected to take part, including military personnel, mass organizations and, for the first time, representatives of the armed forces of China, Laos and Cambodia. More than 20 international delegations – among them three high-level, four ministerial-level groups, and representatives from 15 political parties – will attend the celebration.

The festivities will not only include a grand procession through the streets but also a spectacular aerial display, with helicopter formations and Su-30MK2 fighter jets flying overhead, trailing the national flag and the banner of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Prensa Latina cited the top leader of Vietnam as saying that the victory of April 30, 1975 stands as a testament not only to the resilience and unity of the Vietnamese people under the Party’s leadership but also to their unyielding aspiration for independence, freedom and peace.
