The 13th National Assembly (NA)’s deputies at their on-going fifth session on June 12 heard reports on the results of addressing voters’ petitions since the previous session and the implementation of the NA’s resolutions on hearing.

Head of the NA’s Ombudsman Committee Nguyen Duc Hien said that at the fourth session, the NA received 1,487 petitions from voters nationwide and then sent them to authorised agencies.

The opinions mention all aspects of the socio-economic life, mainly relating to the issuance of measures to ease difficulties in business and production and ensure social welfare, the improvement of policies on land use and the management and stabilisation of prices of such essential commodities as petrol, oil, power and rice.

Voters also focused on poverty reduction, policies for people who rendered services to the country, and operations of commercial banks and handling bad debts as well as operations of state agencies and supervision of law enforcement.

The NA and Government’s offices, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy have to date answered all 1,487 petitions.

Almost ministries and sectors had documents answering the petitions, right after the fourth session like the ministries of transport, finance, and education and training.

Answers caught the questioned issues and showed close coordination between ministries and sectors.

On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan presented a report on the implementation of the NA’s resolutions on hearing.

He said at the fourth session, the NA issued Resolution 40/2012/QH13 on November 23, 2012 on question and answer.

After the session, the Prime Minister and Cabinet members implemented the resolution, realising it into mechanisms and policies combined with the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in order to step by step deal with the issues concerned by the NA, its deputies and voters nationwide, Nhan said.

He also briefed the deputies on the results of the implementation of the resolution in four fields of industry and trade, construction, banking and health care.

He stressed that over the past six months, the country has gained encouraging achievements in rescheduling, exempting and reducing taxes for businesses, expanding markets, speeding up exports, cutting interest rates, controlling the gold market, restructuring nine weak and ineffective commercial banks, stabilising the price of pharmaceutical products and dealing with the gender inequality at birth.

However, in the time to come, the country will continue supporting businesses in difficulties, strengthening measures to prevent trade fraud and counterfeits and solve overload at hospitals, and providing preferential social housing credit, Deputy PM Nhan said.
