Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong on Dec. 19 paid a working visit to the
Quang Trung Software Park, an emerging information technology (IT) centre in the southern commercial hub -
Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking to the staff working in the park, NA Chairman Trong noted that with its modern infrastructure, the park has become a centre for IT activities in the city, helping to attract foreign and local enterprises in software production and human resource training, creating jobs for young people, and contributing to the municipal IT development.
The establishment of the park was a brave, creative and on-track step by the city's authorities that was also in line with the country's policy on developing high-tech industries, praised the NA Chairman.
He expressed hope that the software park would continue to expand its scale and become a major centre on the application and production of IT products in the city as well as the whole country.
Officially set up in March 2001, the park has so far attracted some 70 IT businesses, including 38 foreign-owned companies, with a combined registered capital of 27.3 million USD.
The NA Chairman on the same day also visited a resettlement area for the poor in the city.
