The US Navy hospital ship, the USNS Mercy, with a crew of 800 and the Japanese ship, the Kunisaki, with 200 aboard, docked at Quy Nhon port on May 31 to begin a humanitarian mission in the central province of Binh Dinh.
The visit is part of the US Navy’s “Pacific Partnership 2010” programme.
Staying for over two weeks in Binh Dinh province, the doctors and nurses from both ships will examine and treat patients, give advice on improving healthcare services and visit some local schools and hospitals.
