Hanoi launched an electric car service around the tourist favourite West Lake in Tay Ho district on Feb. 3 to mark the 82nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
The 18-km route takes tourists to 21 relic sites and beautiful sceneries around the West Lake such as Tran Quoc and Tao Sach Pagodas, Vong Thi, Quan Thanh and Co Le Temples and Ly Tu Trong Flower Garden.
The West Lake has a long history associated with the formation and development of the capital city of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Also on Feb. 3, a pair of ceramic dragons, the largest of their kind in Vietnam, were inaugurated in the West Lake area.
The two ceramic dragons are made after the dragon style of the Ly dynasty. They are 7.5 metres tall each, including the base, and their bodies are decorated by ceramic plates.
The work was made by artisans from Bat Trang pottery craft village in Hanoi at a total cost of nearly 2.6 billion VND. Earlier, the pair set the Vietnam Guinness record as the largest ceramic dragons and they were on display on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi in 2010 before being moved to the new site.
