PANO – The Hanoi Book Fair 2016 was kicked off by the Hanoi municipal Department of Information and Communications at the Thang Long Citadel on October 6.

Under the theme “Book and Integration”, the fair aims to honour reading culture and traditional values as well as to contribute to building a learning society, said Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee at the opening ceremony.

It is also to mark the 62nd anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day and 20th anniversary of Vietnam’s joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and one year of the ASEAN Community, he added.

With the main topic “Hanoi and ASEAN countries”, the fair displayed an array of books, photos and publications reflecting collaboration between Hanoi, Vietnam and ASEAN countries.

It featured 170 booths of 46 domestic and 20 foreign publishers. They showcased books of various genres, including children’s, literature, culture and society, economics and e-books.

It will last till the end of October 10.
