At the meetings, voters were introduced to the profiles and qualifications of the five candidates running in Electoral Unit No.5. Local voters expressed their consensus and appreciation for the candidates’ action programs, while raising questions on issues of public concern, such as the Land Law, administrative procedures, and healthcare services for citizens.
Presenting his action program, General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his honor at being nominated by the Politburo, the National Election Council, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and trusted by voters at his workplace and residence to run for the 16th National Assembly. He conveyed sincere thanks to the Party committees and authorities of Dong Thap for facilitating his meetings with local voters.
If elected, he pledged to actively contribute opinions and propose effective solutions to implement socio-economic development programs, while ensuring national defense and security in the locality. He also committed to working with fellow National Assembly deputies and the Dong Thap delegation to serve as a bridge between voters and the National Assembly, the Government, central ministries and agencies, and citizens nationwide, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 tenure.

The General affirmed that he would maintain close contact with local Party committees, authorities and voters; devote time to listening to their opinions and recommendations; truthfully and fully reflect their aspirations to the Party, State, National Assembly and competent agencies; and promptly report back the results to voters.

He further underscored his determination, together with the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, to thoroughly grasp and implement the Party’s guidelines on national defense and security, apply new thinking on safeguarding the Vietnam in the current context, and focus on building a strong all-people national defense posture and a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern military. The ultimate goal, he stressed, is to firmly safeguard national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, maintain political and social stability, and preserve a peaceful environment for national development.
