As of September 30, legal precedents were adduced in more than 200 verdicts and decisions of the courts, Binh said.

The rate of judgments and decisions cancelled or revised due to the courts’ subjectivity since the beginning of this year was 1.09 percent, 0.21 percent lower than that of the same period last year, he said.

To date, 146,336 verdicts and decisions of nearly 90 percent of judges of People’s Courts at all levels have been posted on the courts’ online portals.

This was a breakthrough in the Supreme People’s Court’s directions to improve the capacity and responsibility of judges as well as the consistency in applying laws, and help people take part in supervising the courts’ judgments, Binh stressed.

According to the chief judge, major cases, especially economic and corruption cases and those drawing public concerns, have been solved strictly and clearly. Courts have also sped up the settlement of administrative cases, with the attention paid to holding dialogues between petitioners and defendants.

The reconciliation work has been proved effective, as more than a half of civil cases have been mediated successfully.

In March 2018, the Supreme People’s Court piloted the opening of a reconciliation and dialogue center in the northern port city of Hai Phong, Binh said, adding that this model will be expanded to 16 other localities across Vietnam in the coming time.

The chief judge also affirmed that the Supreme People’s Court will continue directing all-level courts to take synchronous actions to improve the court system’s operations.
