Overseas Vietnamese offer support for COVID-19 fight
Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on October 8 handed over to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee more than 3 billion VND (131,680 USD) donated by overseas Vietnamese to support the country’s COVID-19 fight and the vaccine fund.
Addressing the handover ceremony, the minister said the sum this time was raised by the Vietnamese communities and businesses in China, Russia, the U.K., Israel, Japan and Switzerland, among other.
The assistance demonstrates solidarity, patriotism and the spirit of ‘the haves helping the have-nots’ of the Vietnamese people, he added.
He spoke highly of the timely and practical support from the VFF Central Committee in tasks related to OVs in the recent past, asking the organization to promptly deliver the money to localities in need.
To date, OVs have raised 29 billion VND to support COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
On the morning of the same day, air conditioning manufacturer Daikin Vietnam presented 300 million VND to the COVID-19 vaccine fund.
