No Vietnamese citizens reported affected in Hong Kong apartment fire: Foreign Ministry
No Vietnamese citizens have so far been reported among the victims of a deadly apartment building fire in Hong Kong (China), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed during its regular press briefing on November 27.
Responding to a reporter’s question on whether any Vietnamese nationals were affected in the incident, which resulted in heavy casualties, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that immediately after receiving the information, the MoFA instructed the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau (China) to contact local authorities to verify if any Vietnamese were involved.

The Consulate General also reached out to Vietnamese community networks in Hong Kong to gather information and prepared necessary measures to provide citizen protection if required, she added.
The Consulate General reported that, so far, no Vietnamese citizens have been affected by the fire, Hang said, extending heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.
Also at the press briefing, Hang responded to a question about a Republic of Korea citizen recently found dead in Ho Chi Minh City.
She said Vietnamese authorities have notified the diplomatic mission of the RoK in Vietnam of the case, and that relevant Vietnamese agencies are conducting an investigation.
