U.S. hands over war keepsakes to Vietnamese owners
PANO - On April 17, the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 organized a ceremony to hand over war keepsakes provided by the U.S. to veterans and relatives of Vietnamese fallen soldiers.
Present at the event were Senior Colonel Thai Thanh Duc, Deputy Chief of the Department of Political Affairs of Military Region 7, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7; U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper; U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns; and representatives from functional agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.

The 10 war keepsakes returned by the U.S. side this time included merit certificates, diaries, and notebooks of veterans and fallen soldiers. They were seized and kept by the U.S. military force during the war in Vietnam.
Previously, functional agencies of the U.S. had cooperated with their Vietnamese counterparts to verify information of these war keepsakes’ owners.
